LIME AND SEA SALT SCRUB RECIPE
It might be getting colder out, but I am definitely channeling the beach and mojitos and summertime with my newest homemade body scrub recipe: lime and sea salt scrub!
This body scrub contains ingredients that are super beneficial for your skin – yet, it only takes minutes to make! You can mix this up super quick before your shower, or it makes for an easy DIY gift idea.
BENEFITS OF SEA SALT FOR SKIN
There are so many reasons why sea salt is great for your skin:
- It’s packed with minerals that are key to healthy skin, such as magnesium, sodium, and calcium
- Reduces blotchiness
- Can help reduce and prevent acne
- Improves skin hydration
- And may even help your skin look more youthful
WHY LIME IS GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN
Not only is it a delicious fruit (and one of my favorite smoothie ingredients), lime is also super beneficial for your skin, mostly thanks to its antioxidant properties!
- Lime “slows down” the aging of your skin
- Lightens dark spots
- Treats & prevents acne
- Reduces oil production
- Fights bacteria
- Helps to remove dead skin
HOW TO MAKE & USE: LIME & SEA SALT BODY SCRUB
How to Make:
All you will need for this recipe is your oil of choice (I typically use grape seed oil or olive oil for my body scrubs), sea salt, and a lime. Zest the lime & juice it – you’ll need a little of each! The ingredients simply get mixed together (full recipe below!)
How to Use:
The best time to use a body scrub is in the shower, before cleansing. Massage the body scrub onto your skin in circular motions and rinse off. The scrub will remove all dead skin cells, allowing your cleanser to do it’s job better – and it’s just much easier to get the scrub off if you exfoliate first.
After use, I recommend washing the floor of your shower in case any oily residue is left behind. Slipping in the shower is no fun.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup fine sea salt
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
Instructions
- Mix together all ingredients.
- Massage onto your skin in circular motions. Rinse off.
